Since 2013, Focal Aria has been a leading range among high-performing and expressive Hi-Fi loudspeakers. With its natural flax cone and sleek style, Aria marked a decisive point in Focal’s history. And the story continues. As part of its process of constant renewal, the St. Étienne brand completes its line with the launch of Aria K2 936, a new edition of the Aria 936 model that features its iconic K2 cone and the Ash Grey exclusive finish.

FOCAL TECHNOLOGY AND EXPERTISE

Designed and manufactured in France, Aria K2 936 is a 3-way floorstanding loudspeaker with a small footprint. Thanks to its three bass speaker drivers, it offers impressive power handling and dynamics. In a stereo installation, the listening experience speaks for itself, whatever genre of music you like to play. A multi-port PowerFlow system for more impact, floor facing vent for more depth, aluminum/magnesium TNF tweeter for silky trebles, ultra-rigid MDF construction for very low vibrations and outstanding neutrality: the new addition to these cutting-edge technologies is the K2 cone, another exclusive from the Focal brand.

THE HISTORIC, ICONIC K2 CONE

In its trademark yellow, the K2 sandwich cone in aramid fiber was revealed by Focal for the first time in 1986. Made in France, it has continued to evolve over the years, enhancing the brand’s star products and always combining the three key success factors for a speaker driver: rigidity, lightness and damping. Now comprising an ultralight foam core sandwiched between a layer of aramid fibers and a layer of glass fibers, the K2 cone guarantees a pure and precise sound, with no coloration. By incorporating this cone in the Aria 936, the Focal engineers demonstrate their innovative spirit, offering ever more character while maintaining high performance, for a Premium Hi-Fi product.

A SPECIAL FINISH FOR A SPECIAL EDITION

With its sleek look, Aria K2 936 combines timelessness with modernity. It blends seamlessly into any style of interior. The choice of Ash Grey finish, a Premium finish exclusive to Focal, combined with a leather effect front panel, highlights the loudspeaker’s style and elegance. Recognized as a ‘Living Heritage Company’ (Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant) by the French state, Focal once again showcases its industrial expertise and audio excellence: Aria K2 936 signals the return to high emotion shared by a French loudspeaker with a unique design. Trinnov’s New Altitude32 Warranty Extension Includes a Factory Tune-up

Good news for owners of Trinnov Audio’s Altitude32: the company has extended its warranty for the processor for an additional five years for customers who have owned theirs for five years or more. Additionally, the new program also includes a check-up and refresh — as well as additional hardware replacements, if needed — for the Altitude32 at the Trinnov facility. The program opens on April 1, 2021.

Read more about the new program from Trinnov:

Trinnov Audio, the market leader in the design and manufacture of reference audio processors for home theaters, high-end hi-fi, professional audio and commercial cinemas, announces a 5-Year Warranty Extension Program for its flagship processor Altitude32. This program includes a refurbishment of the Altitude at a Trinnov facility and extends the product’s warranty for an additional five years.

5-Year Warranty Extension Program

In 2018, Trinnov updated its warranty policy for its entire High-End Product line by extending the Warranty period from 3 to 5 years, retroactively.

Now, with the first Altitude32 processors leaving their warranty period, we are pleased to announce a Warranty Extension Program, available to all Altitude32 owners that have owned their processor for more than 5 years.

Through this program, Trinnov further reaffirms its commitment to its customers and the future in terms of the ongoing, proactive development of the Altitude platform.

The program consists of an additional 5-year warranty that begins on the date the owner purchases the program. At a Trinnov facility, the Altitude receives a complete check up and refresh, including full inspection and thorough testing. If necessary, internal hardware is replaced to restore the unit to new condition.

Customers will be able to enter the program from 04/01/2021.

Further details about the program, including pricing and return procedure, will be made available through the local Trinnov distributor.

The program reaffirms Trinnov’s long-term commitment to the Altitude platform and its user base

The Altitude32 was introduced at the end of 2014 as the new Reference for High-End Home Theater Processors, powered by a revolutionary software-based platform and driven by ongoing innovation.

Over the last five years, Trinnov Audio has regularly introduced unique and industry-changing features made available to its entire user base – free of charge – thereby staying true to its early promise.

Such features include the world’s first support of multiple, new immersive audio codecs; early adoption of Roon; revolutionary bass management capabilities; ongoing enhancements to its Loudspeaker/Room Optimization; and more recently, the introduction of DTS:X Pro after an entire year of close collaboration with the engineering team at DTS. This long-term vision and value continues to drive the company forward.

Our vision with the Altitude platform from day one extended beyond a simple fight against obsolescence. It was always about creating a product that can remain at the top of its category from both a performance and feature perspective over a long period of time. Manufacturers should be doing all they technically can to extend their products’ life spans to the maximum and make them upgradable by design. We believe this is what the industry needs and also what our customers expect and deserve. We will always prioritize quality over quantity and the Warranty Extension program is yet another example of that vision and commitment. Our customers make a major investment when purchasing an Altitude, and we are determined to keep every Altitude owner’s system performing at the highest level, regardless of when it was purchased. We intend to keep the Altitude platform at the forefront of High-End Home Theater with the same strategy and vision for many years to come and will continue with ongoing innovation, bringing more high-value features to our customers,” said the company’s CEO and cofounder Arnaud Laborie.

An acknowledged and rewarded vision

Earlier this year and for the first time, the Expert Imaging and Sound Association, a group of specialised AV Magazines, decided to reward a platform rather than a product to acknowledge Trinnov’s achievement delivering ongoing innovation with the Altitude series of AV Processors. This follows a first EISA Award for the Altitude32 in 2017.

CEPro also rewarded the Altitude32 with a BEST Product Award in 2020 despite the platform having been introduced almost six years ago, further confirming the Altitude is a technological vehicle for ongoing innovation rather than a simple product.

Here’s more about the new certification:

Sound United LLC, parent company to Bowers & Wilkins, Denon, Marantz, Polk Audio, Definitive Technology, Classé, and Boston Acoustics, today announced several floorstanding and select center channel speakers from the Definitive Technology Demand Series and Polk Audio Legend Series are the first speaker lines in the home theater market to garner IMAX Enhanced Certification. IMAX Enhanced combines the highest-end entertainment products with IMAX digitally re-mastered 4K HDR content and DTS audio technologies to offer premium quality immersive experiences at home.
Sound United brands Denon and Marantz were among the first electronics companies to boast IMAX Enhanced certified products with models like the Marantz SR8015 and Denon AVR-X8500H. To build on the success of the program, IMAX and DTS partnered with award-winning Hollywood sound mixers and consulted with industry experts, including the engineering teams at Polk Audio and Definitive Technology, to help design the certification process for loudspeakers. As a result of this work, the Demand Series and Legend Series loudspeaker lines from Definitive Technology and Polk Audio, respectively, are the first of a series of loudspeaker products to be certified for use with IMAX Enhanced home theaters. This collaborative milestone completes the IMAX Enhanced certified product ecosystem, bringing consumers closer to the cinema experience at home.
“Our intent in joining the loudspeaker certification program was to reproduce the signature IMAX sound without compromise. It was essential to preserve the impact and dynamics moviegoers have come to expect from IMAX, therefore, we considered sound pressure level (SPL), frequency response and the consistency of the speaker’s performance when evaluating eligibility for loudspeaker certification,” said Matt Lyons, VP of Engineering – Acoustics Product Development & Engineering at Polk Audio. “IMAX defined a specific set of frequency ranges to be used for testing, which we then ultimately measured against speaker performance. The resulting certification completes the ecosystem of IMAX Enhanced products including content, devices and loudspeakers, all calibrated to offer the level of performance IMAX demands.”
“We’ve worked closely with Sound United brands for over 20 years. The company’s longstanding reputation for innovation stretches across their brand portfolio, making them an ideal partner to bring new technologies to market,” said Bill Neighbors, Xperi Senior Vice President & General Manager, Cinema, Home, Digital Media & Streaming Solutions. “We decided Polk Audio and Definitive Technology were the ideal launch partners for the IMAX Enhanced Speaker Certification program given their heritage and expertise in both passive and powered loudspeaker development.”
The Definitive Technology Demand D17, D15, D5c and Polk Audio Legend L800, L600 and L400 are IMAX Enhanced certified and available for purchase. New IMAX Enhanced certified product lines within the Sound United brand portfolio will be announced at a later date.
