Editions Mego and INA GRM launch contemporary experimental music series

With its first releases from Jim O’Rourke, Lucy Railton and Max Eilbacher.

Editions Mego and INA GRM have launched a new series, called Portraits GRM, dedicated to contemporary electronic music, with its first two releases – a split collection from Lucy Railton and Max Eilbacher, and an album by Jim O’Rourke.

The label will look beyond the album format to highlight broader notions of work, and will focus on both solo artists’ work as well as collaborative projects.

Portraits GRM’s first two releases will be Jim O’Rourke’s Shutting Down album, and Lucy Railton and Max Eilbacher’s split collection Forma / Metabolist Meter (Foster, Cottin, Caetani and a Fly).

Symbolically covering 30 years, Shutting Down finds itself at the intersection of instrumental compositions, field recordings, electronics and “cybernetic becomings.”

On Forma, Railton fuses live cello recordings with synth and organ sounds, while Eilbacher’s Metabolist Meter (Foster, Cottin, Caetani and a Fly) contains “the dramatic reality of a dying fly.”

Forma follows the release of Railton’s collaborative album with Peter Zinovieff – RFG Inventions for Cello and Computer – on PAN in February.
