The JBL Endurance Peak 4 aims to satisfy all of these criteria with a rugged, secure design and a feature set tailored for active lifestyles. With improved battery life, Bluetooth connectivity, and customizable sound through the JBL Headphones app, these earbuds present themselves as a versatile option for both fitness enthusiasts and casual listeners. Let’s examine how the Endurance Peak 4 performs in terms of design, functionality, and sound to determine if it stands out in the competitive sports earbud market.

Look & Feel
If you’re after true wireless earbuds that hook around your ears, the Endurance Peak 4 are exactly what you need. It’s an in-ear headset that’s very secure and form-fitting, allowing the earbuds to stay in place during intense exercise. My favorite aspect of this design is actually its build quality. It has IP68 dust and water protection, so you won’t have to worry about using the Endurance Peak 4 in those environments (they are meant to endure, after all). However, it’s the actual earpiece design that really caught my attention. The texture of the earbuds resembles the hard surface of a barbell, and even though the chassis still feels plasticky, it still feels like more attention was paid to this build than to many other wireless sports earbuds in this price range.
Design & Functionality
The JBL Endurance Peak 4 uses a 10mm dynamic driver, which is relatively large for true wireless earbuds and is tuned for JBL’s signature Pure Bass Sound with Spatial Sound support. Everything appears properly powered in terms of raw output, leaving you with a solid nominal sound level with plenty of headroom to spare. Noise-canceling helps out with this too, providing a fair amount of isolation for its price point. Your environment is monitored in real time by the Endurance Peak 4’s array of microphones, which also controls other features like ambient aware and talk-through. The ambient mode is responsive and very useful, while talk-through can be a bit finicky.
Through the JBL Headphones app, the Endurance Peak 4 offers a range of customization tools. You can adjust EQ settings, fine-tune ANC and ambient sound levels, and personalize controls to match your preferences. The app also supports features like sound personalization, firmware updates, and control customization, giving users more control over both audio performance and usability.
Bluetooth
The JBL Endurance Peak 4 uses Bluetooth 5.3, offering a more stable and energy-efficient wireless connection compared to previous generations. This ensures reliable playback with minimal dropouts, which is especially important during workouts or outdoor activity. The earbuds support standard SBC and AAC codecs, providing solid compatibility across both iOS and Android devices. Additional connectivity features include multipoint pairing, allowing you to stay connected to two devices simultaneously, and Google Fast Pair for quick and seamless setup on Android devices. The connection remains responsive for media playback and calls, with low enough latency for casual video viewing, making the Endurance Peak 4 a versatile option for both fitness and everyday use.
Battery Life
The JBL Endurance Peak 4 is built for extended use, offering up to 48 hours of total battery life when combining the earbuds and charging case. On a single charge, the earbuds themselves deliver up to 12 hours of playback with ANC off, or about 8 hours with noise canceling enabled, while the case provides multiple additional recharges. For convenience, the Endurance Peak 4 also supports fast charging, giving you roughly 4 hours of playback from just a 10-minute charge, making it ideal for quick top-ups before workouts or commutes. Overall, the battery performance is one of the standout features here, easily supporting multi-day use without needing to plug in, especially for active users who need reliable endurance from their gear.
Soundstage
I’m not typically expecting the widest soundstage or the most immersive spatial imaging from workout earbuds, but the Endurance Peak 4 still makes a solid effort. There’s good left/right channel distinction, with surprising separation and localization across the stereo field. Its wingspan is about shoulder-width and quite linear, which is what I’ve come to expect from JBL, but it always comes across very gracefully. If you’re looking for a pair of workout buds that offer more scale to the soundstage, the Endurance Peak 4 might actually be too expansive. However, those who also listen to their workout buds casually will be impressed by its more advanced spatial properties.
Low End
The most important feature of any pair of workout earbuds is its bass response, and JBL usually has no problem delivering in that area. With the Endurance Peak 4, you get a solid thump with its factory tuning that you can adjust with EQ to your heart’s content. It delivers exactly the kind of energy you want for workout sessions, a deep, satisfying rumble with a full body that punches hard. This response can be even more dominant with certain EQ presets like bass, and extreme bass that will really saturate the frequency response in a thick cloud of tone. Articulate? No, but the boomy power is what you’re probably looking for in a pair of generously priced workout earbuds.
Mids
While you can use EQ to bring out the midrange a bit, the frequency response is fittingly U-shaped. Instruments show up on the surface, but their tone is quite thin aside from emphasis in the low-mids and upper-mids. The fundamental midrange is pretty much attenuated, but with EQ, you can get some clarity to sneak through. It feels slightly artificial, though, as if the frequencies are being pushed through a tube. Vocals suffer the most with this response, lacking proper command and enunciation. They’re not completely in the background, but they definitely lack fullness.
Highs
You’re not really seeking crisp and brilliant treble in workout earbuds, and the Endurance Peak 4 knows this. The jazz preset offers the clearest look at the highs, but it’s still quite veiled. Otherwise, everything is smooth and easy to digest in the high frequencies. They’re unobtrusive but not completely muted with EQ adjustments.
Summary
The JBL Endurance Peak 4 succeeds in delivering what most users want from workout earbuds: a secure fit, strong durability, and powerful, energetic sound. Its bass-forward tuning, long battery life, and reliable Bluetooth performance make it an excellent companion for exercise and on-the-go listening. While the midrange and treble lack refinement, and some features like TalkThru can feel inconsistent, the overall package remains highly practical and dependable for its price. For those prioritizing stability, endurance, and impactful sound during workouts, the Endurance Peak 4 is an easy recommendation. It may not satisfy critical audiophiles, but as a fitness-focused true wireless solution, it gets the fundamentals right, and then some.
