‘Lost Desert & Friends’ places teamwork centre stage on All Day I Dream

Just under a year after his breakthrough LP alongside Lee Burridge, ‘Melt’, Lost Desert returns to his regular home of All Day I Dream today with another record that bears the fruit of collaboration. The five-piece ‘Lost Desert & Friends’ sees the artist pairing with a multitude of melodic house champions—including a reunion with Burridge, and works with Simon Vuarambon, Amand, and Bona Fide.

‘Lost Desert & Friends’ sets its mellowed tone with ‘Welch’, a team effort between ‘Melt’ co-writers that weaves a hypnotic soundscape together with stuttered synthesis and vocals that slowly give way to emotive string accents. These themes, which carry a heavy Lost Desert influence, are emulated the Bona Fide-assisted ‘No Strings’.

Simon Vuarambon and Amand join forces with Lost Desert for the EP’s peak time-geared compositions. The first, ‘Earth Before Humans’, is anchored by grooving basslines and peppered with metallic synth harmonies and orchestrated pads. Amand co-writes the ‘That Moment And You’, which elicits an emotional response through nostalgic vocal sampling and brass and strings that interlock with one another in a sweeping hook. Finally, ‘Lost Desert & Friends’ closes with Lost Desert’s atmospheric take on DSF’s ‘Mystika’.

Lost Desert has earned heavy acclaim as a star player among the All Day I Dream fold. His first single on the label with Junior and Lee Burridge, ‘Lingala’, sored to the top of Beatport charts and became one of 2016’s biggest melodic anthems. His success continued with ‘Loopyness’ and ‘Elongi’, before sitting down to pen his first album with Burridge in ‘Melt’. Outside All Day I Dream, Lost Desert’s work has also been signed to Shanti Moscow Radio, TRYBESof, Tale + Tone, and Souksonic.
