An important part of every magazine editor’s job is to choose the writers who appear in the magazine, and to decide which articles to publish and which to reject. The collective result of these judgment calls over many years is an implicit statement of the magazine’s fundamental view of the subject it covers—the magazine’s heart and soul, if you will.
