Rhino High Fidelity’s New Reissue of Television’s “Marquee Moon” | Michael Fremer Reports

Rhino’s “High Fidelity” collection launched final week a reissue of Television’s traditional “Marquee Moon” reduce by Kevin Gray at Cohearent Audio, utilizing the unique analog grasp tape. The reissue sounds nice! Far higher than the unique urgent by way of bass response, transient readability and the entire audiophile “test marks” however, I argue, it’s unlikely what Tom Verlaine meant in any respect!

That’s partly because of the truth that mastering engineer Kevin Gray was not conversant in the album or with the unique urgent. The recording was produced at Phil Ramone’s legendary A&R Studios (“Getz/Gilberto” and 100s of different nice sounding records), engineered by the late Andy Johns, who absolutely knew tips on how to file rock music, and mastered at Sterling Sound by (or so the credit learn) Greg Calbi and Lee Hulko each of whom have unimaginable mastering resumes. So, I argue, the unique didn’t sound because it did by chance! Watch the video!
