Steinberg have designed a new audio interface for DJs and producers

Building on the ever-growing range of UR-C interfaces, the new UR24C from Steinberg is catered towards DJs and performers on the move. Conforming to the rest of the UR-C range, the audio interface is built with USB 3.0 and USB-C connectivity.

The main pull for DJs here will be the two separate monitor modes, which can be toggled between DAW and DJ. DAW mode lets you adjust the balance of signals coming from the DAW and the U24C’s two inputs.

Switch to DJ mode and you can choose to either split the mono master channel audio to your right earphone, with the mono cue in your left or have both channels in stereo and mix the two. The monitor mode can be set up in the dspMixFX UR-C application, which comes with the interface.

UR24C has 32bit/192kHz audio resolution, with two inputs and four outputs, plus offers latency-free monitoring with built-in DSP effects. Like the rest of the UR-C series the UR24C features Yamaha’s highly acclaimed D-PRE preamps, to deliver “truly transparent and beautifully detailed sound”, the brand says.

Input 1 of the interface sports switchable impedance, meaning you can use it for both high-impedance instruments like guitar or bass, and low impedance instruments like keyboards or electric guitars via effects units. +48v phantom power can be utilised with the flick of a button just above the gain control if you’re using condenser microphones.

Bundled with the UR24C is the dspMixFX mixer, Cubase AI for PC and Mac and Cubasis LE for iPad if you’re using an iPad for recording and processing. Bundled effects include REV-X reverb, Sweet Spot Morphing Channel Strip and Guitar Amp Classics.

Steinberg UR24C will be available soon at a price of €249. Find out more information here.
