Advice for transferring cassette to PC

Hello, I lately purchased a JVC deck that I need to use to play and report previous tapes I discovered in my home, I used to be considering of plugging a RCA to jack or a RCA to USB cable from my deck to my PC after which utilizing a recording software program like Audacity or Audition. Is that a good suggestion? I’m sorry for the dumb query, I’ve been enjoying/transferring CDs and vinyl for years however I’m completely new to cassettes and a Google search would not reply my query (or simply promotes me low-cost cassette converters…)
