Velodyne Acoustics Sold To Germany’s Audio Reference

Acclaimed subwoofer manufacturer Velodyne Acoustics has been purchased by Audio Reference, Velodyne’s longtime distributer in Germany. For years, Velodyne defined the subwoofer category with its innovative products, starting with the accelerometer-based High Gain Servo system that founder David Hall developed for the ULD-18 subwoofer. Now, there is life after audio for David Hall. He has sold his subwoofer business, but his spinoff company Velodyne LiDAR has found great success designing sensors for self-driving cars.
