Avid Cancels Connect 2020

UPDATE: The 2020 NAB Show has since been cancelled.

Burlington, MA (March 10, 2020)—Avid announced late Monday that it is pulling out of the 2020 NAB Show and all other large face-to-face events for the next 60 days, minimum. This includes not only the tentpole convention in Las Vegas, but also Avid’s adjacent Connect 2020 conference, which the company runs with the Avid Customer Association.

As a result, Connect 2020 is cancelled, Avid announced, stating that it had made the decision in close consultation with the Avid Customer Association’s (ACA) executive board.

In place of the one-two punch of NAB and Connect 2020 for introducing its latest products, Avid will stage an online broadcast to introduce new products that were slated to be introduced in April. Building on that, the company tentatively expects to host regional Connect events in several locations worldwide later in the year “when public safety can be assured.” Details will be released at a later date.

“While these were difficult decisions for Avid, and for me personally, we feel strongly that helping stop the spread and severity of the COVID-19 virus is not just the job of governments and healthcare providers, but the responsibility of every individual, organization and corporation around the globe,” said Jeff Rosica, CEO and president at Avid.

“We will take this opportunity to try new methods and experiment with different approaches to better engage with our clients, users and the community around the globe. Avid remains supportive of the NAB Show and looks forward to next year’s event.”
