ESPHome voice assistant / M5Stack Atom Echo Development Kit: disable audio suggestions

Hi all people,

I’m utilizing an M5Stack Atom Echo Development Kit with ESPHome as voice assistant.

Took a have a look at the configuration file that mechanically will get put in when flashing by way of https://esphome.com/initiatives. But I couldn’t discover something related there…

So is it doable to disable the default audio suggestions when doing one thing?

As described right here, audio suggestions could be very buggy. A sentence that will normally take 1-2 seconds (for instance, German, “Schwenker ausgeschaltet”), it takes about 10-15 seconds, as a result of one thing is incorrect.

I can’t inform if the audio file is being performed too loudly, thus freaking out the speaker. Or if there may be some hidden setting to make the speaker truly work. But I do know that I’ve tried this with 4 completely different M5Stack Atom Echo units – and this occurs with every one. So I doubt it’s a {hardware} drawback.

While I might ideally repair this difficulty, I’d go along with disabling the spoken suggestions for now, if that will work.

What’s actually annoying about this: whereas that is occurring (buggy audio suggestions), the binary_sensor.m5stack_atom_echo_23b368_assist_in_progress stays on, so till this terrible audio response has lastly performed, it’s unimaginable to present one other audio command.

Perhaps it’d be doable to play a beep as an alternative, or simply nothing. But the audio suggestions taking ages to play makes this a really disagreeable expertise.

Thanks prematurely to your concepts
