HD Vinyl Laser Cutting Getting Closer To Reality

Years ago Enjoy the Music.com reported on a new effort to product high-resolution vinyl LPs. The process involves lasers instead of legacy metal cutters on a lathe to produce the source, which eventually makes the product to press vinyl LPs. In June 2010, HD Vinyl published for the first time a video of the HD Vinyl laser cutting process. The quality was much better than expected, yet the process was too slow and inaccurate for industrial production. Especially stitching errors gave us a headache. And so they needed to improve the process over the full area of a 12″ disc in terms of speed and positioning accuracy.
