Ft. Lauderdale, FL (June 5, 2020)—inMusic has acquired Stanton, the long-running DJ brand, from Nashville-based Gibson Brands, Inc.
In business for more than 70 years, Stanton has evolved with the DJ and turntable market over time, having developed lines of replacement stereo cartridges aimed at DJs, controllers and Final Scratch DJ tools.
Now it joins other DJ brands in the inMusic stable, including Numark, Rane and Denon DJ. Gibson first acquired Stanton as a package deal in 2011 when it purchased the Stanton Group, which at the time consisted of Stanton DJ, Cerwin-Vega and KRK Systems—the latter two which are being retained by Gibson. The acquired brands became the foundation of Gibson Pro Audio, part of Gibson Brands’ ill-fated push into consumer electronics and other areas of the MI marketplace. Since going into and emerging from bankruptcy in 2018, Gibson has focused on rebuilding its core guitar brands.
