The soundtrack to Gabriel Moses’ movie Ijó has been launched on restricted vinyl

Ijó was commissioned by 180 Studios for the acclaimed REGINA exhibition.

James William Blades’ (Black Is King, Mutt) soundtrack to Gabriel Moses’ movie Ijó has been launched on vinyl through The Vinyl Factory.

Ijó, which premiered at 180 Studios as a part of Gabriel Moses’ ongoing exhibition REGINA, examines a bunch of younger ballet dancers in Lagos, Nigeria by the lens of artwork, household, and tradition.

REGINA is the primary exhibition by London-based photographer and filmmaker Moses. A self-taught photographer, Moses was the youngest individual to shoot a canopy for Dazed and was provided his first directing position with Nike at 18. He has beforehand collaborated with musicians, together with Skepta, Little Simz and Pa Salieu.





 

With artwork course from Jamie Reid Studio, the gold foiled gatefold vinyl launch features a Gabriel Moses photograph print, hand-tipped onto the entrance cowl. Ijó is pressed on 180-gram, black vinyl with the GM emblem etched on the B-side.

Limited to 300 copies, hand signed and numbered by the artist, Ijó is now obtainable from The Vinyl Factory retailer or at REGINA in 180 studios till April 30.

Isaac Julien set for his first main UK exhibition at Tate Britain

Celebrated filmmaker and artist Isaac Julien could have his first main UK exhibition on the Tate Britain.

Running from April 26 till August 20, What Freedom Is To Me will showcase Julien’s work throughout forty years, for the primary time within the UK. The exhibition presents Isaac’s output throughout movie and set up from the Nineteen Eighties to the current day.

The famend artist initially gained a cult following together with his 1989 movie Looking For Langston, which examines Langston Hughes and the Harlem Renaissance. The Looking For Langston soundtrack had its first-ever vinyl urgent by way of The Vinyl Factory. Both customary and signed copies of the discharge can be found from our retailer.

What Freedom Is To Me highlights Julien’s barrier-breaking work throughout disciplines, together with music, movie, dance, images, theatre, portray and sculpture.

Ben Frost releases first studio album in five years, Broken Spectre

Broken Spectre is the score for the critically acclaimed exhibition by photographer Richard Mosse.

Ben Frost has released Broken Spectre, a twelve-track score for Richard Mosse’s exhibition of the same name, via The Vinyl Factory.

Based on field recordings of the Brazilian Amazon’s ultrasonics, Broken Spectre results from a project which saw Frost and Mosse team up to document the Amazon’s environmental breakdown using scientific imaging technology and sound recording devices between 2018 and 2022.

Recorded on location in the heart of the Amazon Basin, the score is made up of environmental recordings and complex electronic processes, caught using an ultrasonic recording system and 1/4″ analogue tape to capture ultra-high frequency sounds that are usually completely invisible.

The double LP, pressed at The Vinyl Factory in Hayes, is accompanied by Richard Mosse’s photography from the project and artwork by Loose Joints. A limited edition version is also available, numbered and signed by both Frost and Mosse.
